One fine afternoon, we decided to take a break from the usual routine and head to Kuya J, located in Robinsons Place Antipolo. Known for its Filipino comfort food, Kuya J promised a satisfying meal, and it certainly delivered. Our lunch featured three standout dishes: Sinigang na Bangus, Monggo, and Ube Halo-halo. Each dish brought its own unique taste and texture, making the experience memorable.

Discovering the Heart of Filipino Cuisine

Filipino food is all about bold flavors and hearty ingredients. Kuya J captures this essence perfectly. The Sinigang na Bangus was the highlight of our meal. This sour soup, made with fresh milkfish, had the perfect balance of tanginess and savory depth. The broth was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of tamarind sourness that made every spoonful refreshing. The fish was tender and flaky, cooked to perfection.

The Monggo, a mung bean stew, was another comforting dish. It was thick and creamy, with bits of pork and leafy greens that added texture and flavor. This dish is often overlooked, but at Kuya J, it stood out as a warm and satisfying choice. It paired well with steamed rice, making it a filling option for anyone craving a taste of home.

A Sweet Ending with Ube Halo-halo

No Filipino meal is complete without dessert, and Kuya Jโ€™s Ube Halo-halo was a delightful treat. Halo-halo is a popular Filipino shaved ice dessert, and this version featured vibrant purple ube (purple yam) that added a creamy sweetness. The combination of crushed ice, sweet beans, jellies, and ube made for a refreshing and colorful finish to our meal. It was the perfect way to cool down and satisfy our sweet tooth after the savory dishes.

Why Kuya J Stands Out in Antipolo

Kuya J offers more than just food; it provides a cozy atmosphere that invites diners to relax and enjoy their meal. The location inside Robinsons Place Antipolo makes it accessible for locals and visitors alike. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience.

The quality of the ingredients and the care put into each dish show in every bite. Whether you are craving traditional Filipino flavors or looking to try something new, Kuya J delivers consistent quality and taste.
